⚡️ Hidden Gem of the Week! ⚡️

📍 Woodcut Dispatches: New York to Taipei
5/5-5/30
opening reception: 5/9
402 Graham Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

Between November 2024 and July 2025, a revolving door of New Yorkers and Taipei locals engaged in an unlikely and untraditional pen-pal exchange through the medium of woodcut printing. Organizers from both cities embarked on this project wanting to better understand how each side felt about the genocide in Palestine. The first prompt asked participants, What do you think about your country’s relationship to war? From there, a dialogue that started with Palestine slowly began to explore broader themes of imperial destruction, political responsibility, and cross-border solidarity.

Woodcut Dispatches traces the trajectory of this 7-month conversation, from a fortuitous meeting in a Taipei cafe to the final workshop in a New York community center. By inviting viewers to critically reflect on the original pen-pal prompts, this exhibit hopes to inspire a continued discourse on what each of our roles is in confronting global, intertwined struggles.

May this month be your best one so far.
