Half whimsical, half spooky, the Society of Illustrators has just extended the closing of their recent exhibition on the art of Edward Gorey, a 20th century artist most famous for his surrealist Victorian drawings and stories. You may have seen his work on the cover of books (most notably a deluxe edition of Bram Stoker’s Dracula) or you may have read a story or two by him as a child. Featuring more than 80 original intricate illustrations in pen and ink, the Society of Illustrators showcases his long legacy creating art for publications such as The New York Times and The New Yorker, as well as his own children’s books and projects. Stop by the museum to check out this exhibit before it closes next month—and collect inspiration from all the artworks featured!
